EN3 is a low-carbon steel, sometimes called mild steel.
This steel is used for general engineering and manufacturing components with low tensile strength requirements like flanges, bushes, spacers, shafts, bolts, nuts, and light-duty pulleys.
EN3 is a low carbon, tensile strength steel with a carbon content between 0.16% and 0.24% carbon.
It is easy to machine and weld. EN3 can also be case hardened, resistant to severe weather conditions, and suitable for high-stress applications.
Special Steels sells EN3 round bar. We cut the quantity of EN3 to the tolerance required for precision engineering and manufacturing at a large volume.
We also offer machine preparation and deliveries.

EN8 is a medium carbon steel that Special Steels supplies as either a round bar or a bright bar.
This is typically used when mild steel does not provide sufficient surface hardening potential. One can manufacture axles, driveshafts, crankshafts, connecting rods, high tensile bolts, studs, propeller shaft joints, rifle barrels, and induction hardened pins from EN8 because it is more cost-effective than alloy steels.
EN8 is a medium carbon steel that can be machined, welded, and suitable for surface hardening treatments like induction and flame hardening. EN8 contains between 0.36% and 0.44% carbon.
It can be machined and welded because the carbon content is low enough but has a high enough carbon content to allow surface hardening. It is more affordable than alloy steel while providing the same benefits.
Special Steels sells EN8 round bar and bright bar. We cut the quantity of EN8 to the tolerance required for precision engineering and manufacturing.
We also offer machine preparation and deliveries.

• Carbon steel – 40 ton tensile black axle steel
• A 6% allowance should always be made for removal of surface defects during machining
• Machinability good (not recommended for case hardening)
• Weldability good (carbon content low enough)
• Heat treatment only to limited ruling sections/can be surface hardened (induction hardening)
EN9 is a medium to high carbon steel.
We use this steel to manufacture spacers, keys, cylinders, small gears, cams, machine tools, crankshafts and grinding balls for ball mills.
EN9 is a medium carbon steel that contains between 0.5% and 0.6% carbon. Welding is not recommended, and only limited heat treatment can be applied.
It can be machined, has excellent wear resistance properties for a carbon steel, and can attain high surface hardness when treated.
Special Steels sells EN9 round bar. We cut the quantity of EN9 round bar to the tolerance required for precision engineering and manufacturing.

EN19 is a high tensile strength alloy steel.
This steel provides mechanical properties for applications like manufacturing axles, drive shafts, propeller shafts, crankshafts, rifle barrels, connecting rods, breach mechanisms studs, high tensile bolts and induction hardened pins.
EN19 is ideal for high load bearing applications which require ductility and shock resistance. EN19 has excellent tensile strength properties.
It is easy to machine and is weldable in the “as rolled” condition. It can be nitrated, flame hardened, induction hardened, quenched and tempered.

EN24 is a high tensile strength alloy steel.
This steel provides superior mechanical properties for applications like manufacturing axles, driveshafts, propeller shafts, crankshafts, rifle barrels, connecting rods, breach mechanisms studs, high tensile bolts, and induction hardened pins.
EN24 is ideal for applications that require a very high load and is usually hardened and tempered to achieve hardness and ductility. EN24 is subject to work hardening.
It is often ordered in the annealed condition, as rolled or forged and is typically further machined before being heat treated. EN24 can be nitrated or surface hardened.
